Dear Parents,

We are so excited to start yet another academic year, ready to face the challenges of providing a safe learning environment that is interesting and stimulating for our students.

Based on our school policy that parents are an important part in the educational process and in order to keep the communication lines open, here are some information that you may find helpful to make the start of the new academic year smooth and hassle free: 

School Timing for the Academic Year 2014-2015:

 

• The new academic year for the KG students will commence on Sunday, 14th September, 2014.

•  The school timings for Pre-KG and KG1 students will be divided into two sessions during Sunday and Monday, 14th-15th September 2014. The first session from (8:00-10:00 am), the second session (11:00-1:00 pm), where the class teacher will contact you and inform you with the session timings.

•  KG2 students will commence on Sunday, 14th September, 2014 from7:30 till1:15 pm.

• School bus will not be available for the (Pre-KG and KG1 students) on Sunday and Monday, 14th and 15th September, 2014.

School Day:

 

Timing

ž  KG1/KG2: The school day starts at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 1:15 p.m.

ž  Pre - KG:  ends at 12:30 p.m.

 

Routine

ž  Each teacher will be in the classroom at 7:10 a.m. to welcome her students.

ž  The morning Assemblies and broadcasting starts at 7:45 a.m. daily

ž  In case you have to take your child earlier than the home time, please ask for a permit-slip from the administration.

ž  The ‘After School Supervisor’ is on duty till 2:30 p.m. Therefore, kindly ensure that your child is picked up earlier to avoid him/her left only with the nannies.

ž  A slip is required from the administration to enter his/her class in case he/she is late for the first period. 

ž  Al Ittihad School provides two –way transportation for the KG students.

 

Uniform:  “Emirates Industries”, Dubai, Al Deyafa Street, Hana Centre.

ž  Students should always come to school in full uniform.

ž  Sandals or shoes with laces are not allowed.

ž  Kindly provide an extra set of clothes to the class teacher. Label it with the name and class of your child especially for Pre-KG & KG1 students.

ž  Label jackets/lunch boxes and other belongings with your child’s name/class.

ž  Children should not be wearing jewelry to school.

ž  Students should come to school already wearing their PE uniform according to their sports timetable.

 

Books:

ž  Books will be distributed to all KG students at the beginning of the year. Parents should label and laminate the books and send them back to the classroom teacher.

 

Website:

ž  In an effort to save the paper/environment, we will now be communicating with parents through our website. The website will be updated on regular basis.

Health and Safety:

Health and safety of our students is our top priority. Kindly keep your child at home in case he/she has:

ž  High fever

ž  Any kind of rash (chicken pox, measles….)

ž  Flu or cold

 

• We have a full time doctor /nurse on school premises. In case of an accident or if your child falls ill, we will have the doctor check him/her and you will be notified immediately.

• Please inform the school in writing, if your child suffers from any food /medicine allergies with a short description of allergy.

• Students who require medication to be used in emergency situations (inhalers, etc...) are required to inform the school in writing. Kindly send the medicine to the school with clear instructions and the dosage.  Please contact the KG admin to fill out the necessary papers. No medication can be administered without these procedures completed by you. 

ž  We work diligently to ensure that in the unfortunate event of an emergency we would be prepared. Therefore, students and staff regularly practice fire drills in collaboration with the Civil Defence Authority at least twice a year to familiarize the students with the procedure in case if there is a real fire.

 

Absence:

We at Al Ittihad Kindergarten care about our students and worry about them if they are absent from school.

Ø  Contact the KG admin when your child is absent whether for sickness or any other reason.

Ø  The supervisor will call you to find out the reasons of your child’s absence.

Ø  A medical certificate is to be submitted to the classroom teacher in case of absence.

Ø  Collect your child’s homework and any other necessary notes that have been given during his/her absence.

 

Homework /Newsletters:

Homework is an essential part of the learning process;

Please make sure that:

ž  You receive the homework at the end of each school day.

ž  You supervise your child when he/she is doing the homework.

ž  The homework is send back to the teacher the next day.

ž  The corrected homework is kept in a special folder at home.

A monthly informative newsletter for all subject areas will be sent home at the beginning of each month.

 

Healthy Eating:

Eating healthy must be encouraged not only at home but also at school. Please pack your child’s lunch box yourself. We will be happy to see the following in your child lunch box:

ž  All kinds of sandwiches

ž  Fruits and vegetables

ž  Milk and juices

ž  A bottle of water

We must train our children to say ‘no’ to junk food such as:

ž  All kinds of soft drinks

ž  All kinds of sweets, lollipops and chocolates

ž  Chips

ž  Peanuts and all kinds of nuts and any unhealthy snacks.

 

Parents –Teachers Meetings (PTA):

Open communication between parents and the school is an essential element of your child’s academic and personality development. Together we can work to facilitate our students’ learning process and help them to grow into responsible, conscientious and successful individuals.

 

• Two formal PTA will be held each year. Parents will be informed of the date & time in advance.

• If the teacher notices any behavioral or academic changes in your child’s performance, you will be assigned a date to meet the class teacher.

• Please avoid talking to the teachers during the morning assembly or while the teacher is in class to inquire about your child’s progress.  Instead, ask for an appointment with the teacher after 1:30p.m.

 

Field Trips:

ž  There are three trips for the KG Section students during the year.

ž  A letter will be sent to you prior to the trip.

ž  No child will be taken on the trip unless his/her parents sign the consent slip.

ž  Students must wear their uniforms on the day of the trip.

 

Birthday Parties:

Kindly ensure to:

ž  Take prior permission from the supervisor and class teacher.

ž  Plan the celebration during the break time and snack time (between 10:15 and 11:00am).

ž  Bring only a birthday cake and juice.

ž  Plan a simple party.
